  6. Leila Rose is 12 weeks and 6 days

So … my little girl is 13 weeks old tomorrow! That’s so crazy, its gone so quick.  Any time goes quick after how slow pregnancy went!

Labour was hard. Really hard. I remember saying ‘I want to die’ to my mum and just looking at Brandon desperately.  The end of labour didn’t seem to be anywhere near, it felt like the pain was going to go on forever.

But the day I gave birth to Leila Rose was the most beautiful day of my life.  When she came into the world, I remember Brandon’s face.  I think that was the first time he actually realised that I’d been carrying a baby for 9 months. He seemed shocked and I remember the tears in his eyes.  I don’t remember alot after that, as I drifted in and out of consciousness as the midwife did my stitches.  I missed Brandon’s first time holding Leila :( but my mum saw it, and she said she will never forget the look on his face. He became a dad straight away, so gentle and loving with Leila.

The postnatal ward staff hated me because I was a teenage mum, so I left hospital 6 hours after giving birth in my blood-soaked PJ’s and slippers. Nobody got me a wheelchair, nobody checked me over. It was the scariest few hours of my life. I was alone on a ward and Leila started choking. I pressed the emergency buzzer and nobody came. Thats when I called my mum and said I wanted to come home.

Since labour, me and Brandon had a few down moments, but mostly things have been perfect. I love my little family. Leila is just perfect, every day I love her more and more. You don’t truly know love until you have a child.

Motherhood is hard and time consuming. All the people who think being a teen mum is glamarous couldnt be more wrong. I dont have time for myself, I’ve only just started to have time to write like this. To go to town I have to take a bag of spare clothes for Leila, nappies, wipes, a bottle or two, bottle warmer, spare dummy, changing mat…

life is actually crazy, and not in the way it should be for girls my age.

But I wouldnt ask to change my life.  You can see from the pictures just how beautiful Leila is. I dont understand how someone like me and brandon couldve made such a perfect little being.
